As we have been comfortably in our house for several weeks now, we still do not have our own electric meter. This is due to some bureaucracy that we don't understand. In the meantime we are sharing power with a neighbors house. Now a typical Guatemalan home may be running a few light bulbs and possibly a TV or radio. Now if you add the "gringo" house to that with all the things that we require to survive, washer, dryer, refrigerator, and all the other items that are drawing from this power you can count on some problems. Twice so far the electrician has had to come out because the wires that are coming out of the meter were melting and shorting out. It seems this meter was not meant for the amount of power that is bring used.
I know sometimes in our day to day lives we can depend on the energy of others to charge us up. Many times when I have been down, tired, or even depressed the attitude of a friend was just what I needed to get me out of that slump. Hopefully I have at sometime been the energy that someone needed to get through the day. As long as we realize that these encounters are orchestrated by God, because He is the source of our energy and He knows what we need and when. Always be prepared to be the light for someone, and watch for that Godly encounter when you need a little boost in your day.
Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
